For mission critical projects a development site can be established on my dedicated LAMP server (or your server), and updates to the live site are made after testing and verification with a single click. Development tools include PHP scripts to update a production server from a development server via recursive FTP, take a "snapshot" of a MySQL database and all site files (and restore to an earlier snapshot), and automatic cron backup.
